ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On March 21, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a local hotel regarding a theft.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the victim who advised a diaper bag containing over $100,000 worth of jewelry, several electronic items, and $14,000 cash had been stolen from the pool area of the hotel. He and his wife, with their children, were spending the weekend at the hotel and didn’t realize the diaper bag was missing until they got to their home in Texas.

After further investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Christopher P. Duplechin, 17, 3462 Duke Road, Lake Charles, and on April 26, he was arrested in connection with the theft without incident at his home. When questioned by detectives, Duplechin confirmed he stole the items.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On April 17, detectives with the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) were contacted in reference to a package being delivered to a business on Moeling Street in Lake Charles. The package, which was intercepted through the mail by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, was found to contain approximately 505 grams of MDMA (ecstasy) powder.

Rescue workers searched the smoldering ruins of a fertilizer plant Thursday for survivors of a monstrous explosion that leveled homes and businesses in every direction across the Texas prairie. As many as 15 people were feared dead and more than 160 others injured.

Daybreak revealed a breathtaking band of destruction extending outward from the West Fertilizer Co. in this small farming community about 20 miles north of Waco. The thunderous blast was so powerful that it shook the ground with the strength of a small earthquake and could be heard dozens of miles away.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On the night of April 5, 2013, a person who saw the media release regarding the suspect who robbed the Valero gas station and Simple Pleasures adult store recognized him at a local casino and notified police. The suspect, Jordan James, was in the company of Gregory Holt. Both James and Holt were detained and eventually arrested. They are both currently incarcerated at the Calcasieu Correctional Center on charges related to the robberies. ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On March 30, at approximately 1:45 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched regarding a complaint of a suspicious pick-up truck at a home on Highway 109 in Vinton.

Upon arrival, deputies observed a truck matching the description with a utility trailer containing a washing machine, mattress, entertainment console, and a dolly, backed up to the porch of the home. Deputies also discovered the back door of the home had been forced open.

After one of his assistant prosecutors was gunned down in January, Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland carried a gun everywhere, even when walking the dog.

He was extra careful when answering the door at his home outside of Forney, about 20 miles east of Dallas. And a neighbor said a sheriff’s deputy was stationed outside the home for about a month after the killing.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On March 19, at approximately 8:15 a.m., a detective with the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) conducted a stop on a minivan traveling eastbound on I-10 near Vinton for a traffic violation.

During the traffic stop, the driver of the minivan, Delroy Clarke, 39, 4502 Red Lake Lane, Richmond, Texas, began to act suspiciously. After running the license plate of the minivan through NCIC, the detective discovered the minivan had been reported stolen in September 2012 through the Montgomery Alabama Police Department.
