ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On June 8, 2013 at approximately 12:16 a.m., Lake Charles Police Corporal Keith Bertrand and Corporal Brenda Desormeaux were dispatched to 4447 Lake St (Shop Rite) for a hold up alarm.

Upon arrival, Officers made contact with the store clerk who stated a black male suspect entered the east side door displaying a black revolver while ordering him to open the register. The black male suspect removed money from the register and took a carton of Kool cigarettes before fleeing the store. The suspect was described as a black male wearing a blue/white/red hooded type long sleeved shirt, long light blue jean shorts, and white tennis shoes. He was wearing black gloves and brandishing a black long barreled revolver in his right hand.

A court official says the surviving suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings is facing federal charges and has made an initial court appearance in his hospital room.

The charges against 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev (joh-KHAR’ tsahr-NEYE’-ehv) remain sealed. He is listed in serious but stable condition.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On March 19, 2013 at 8:54 p.m., the Lake Charles Police Department responded to the 1600 block of 3rd Street in reference to a sexual assault. Upon arrival, officers learned that a female victim was sexually assaulted by Desmond Lamont Lafleur, 19-year old black male of Lake Charles (2001 Susan Street).

During the investigation, police identified Mr. Lafleur as the suspect involved in the incident. An arrest warrant was obtained charging the suspect with Forcible Rape.

A man who worked for 20 years with the shooter who killed four people in upstate New York says he was a good worker but was “spooky” in a recent encounter.

Steve Copperwheat is owner of Environmental Composites in Herkimer. He tells The Associated Press he hired Kurt Myers as a machine operator in the early 1980s at Waterbury Felt, a manufacturer of industrial textiles.

The suspect in the Connecticut school shootings is Adam Lanza, 20, the son of a teacher at the school where the shootings occurred, a law enforcement official said Friday. A second law enforcement official says the boy’s mother, Nancy Lanza, is presumed dead.

Adam Lanza’s older brother, Ryan, 24, of Hoboken, N.J., is being questioned by police, said the first official. Earlier, a law enforcement official mistakenly transposed the brothers’ first names.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — The Lake Charles Police Detective Division is requesting public assistance in identifying suspects in a theft case. On September 2nd at approximately 8pm the victim’s wallet was stolen while she was shopping in a local grocery store.

Approximately three hours later the victim’s credit card was used at a local Wal-Mart store. Video recovered from that Wal-Mart location shows two women using the victim’s stolen card to make purchases.

For the first time with hair that’s brown instead of a wild shade of orangish-red, the suspect in Colorado’s movie theater shooting appeared in court Thursday as prosecutors gave up their fight to see a notebook he sent to a university psychiatrist, saying they didn’t want to delay proceedings.

Holmes appeared more animated during the hearing. He smiled and glanced around the courtroom, looking at his lawyers and reporters covering the hearing. He appeared to be moving his mouth but not actually talking.
