The man accused in the deadly Colorado theater shootings wants to change his plea to not guilty by reason of insanity, his lawyers said Tuesday.

Attorneys for James Holmes said in a court filing they plan to formally ask for the change of plea at a May 13 hearing.

A judge in the case previously entered a standard not guilty plea for the 25-year-old Holmes. If the judge accepts the new plea, Holmes would be sent to the state mental hospital, where doctors would determine whether he was insane at the time of the July 20 shootings.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — About 4:30 this morning, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to The Keg at 4010 Goodman in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival they discovered Quincy James Ledet, 33, Lake Charles, dead in the parking lot from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.

Further investigation revealed Ledet was involved in a verbal altercation inside the nightclub with Jordan Mikole Davis and they were both escorted out. They became engaged in a verbal altercation outside in the parking lot when Davis pulled a handgun and shot Ledet.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On February 24, 2013 at 9:02 p.m., Lake Charles Police Officers were dispatched to an abandoned residence (336 White Street) in reference to a shooting.  Acadian ambulance transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment to a non-life threatening injury.  The suspect was described as a black male, slim build, 6’0”, wearing all black with a red bandana across his face. Officers searched the abandoned house and surrounding area but did not locate the suspect.  Initial investigation indicates that the victim was lured to this address for the purpose of being robbed by unknown suspect(s).

The Las Vegas Strip became a scene of deadly violence early Thursday when someone in a black Range Rover opened fire on a Maserati at a stoplight, sending it crashing into a taxi that burst into flames, leaving three people dead and at least six injured.

Police believe an altercation earlier at a hotel prompted the car-to-car attack in the heart of the Strip at Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road, the site of several major hotel-casinos, including Bellagio, Caesars Palace and Bally’s.

Today around noon CPSO  deputies were dispatched to 427 Bankens Road in Sulphur regarding a shooting.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered the victim had been shot by his son, Chad Peshoff, 42. The victim was subsequently air lifted to a local hospital and his condition is currently unknown. A motive for the shooting is not known at this time.

A fight between two people erupted in gunfire Tuesday at a Houston-area community college, catching a maintenance man in the crossfire and leaving students and others cowering in classrooms.

No one was killed, but the volley of gunshots heard shortly after 12 p.m. on the Lone Star College campus sparked fear of another campus massacre just more than a month after 26 people were killed at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On January 9, 2013 at 5:58 p.m., the Lake Charles Police Department responded to 1701 Sunset Drive in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, the victim was located at a neighbor’s residence with an apparent gunshot wound. Gary Jonathan Thibodeaux was identified as the shooter and located inside his residence at 1701 Sunset Drive.

He was arrested without incident and booked for Attempted 2nd Degree Murder. The victim was treated and released from a local hospital. The suspect has a lengthy criminal history including an arrest for 1st Degree Murder.
