CPSO arrests Westlake Man for Indecent Behavior with Juvenile

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On September 29, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office received a complaint regarding Philo G. Morvant, 35, 620 Neil Road, Westlake, having inappropriate sexual contact with a 5 year old juvenile.  Morvant was an acquaintance of the victim’s family.

When questioned by detectives, Morvant confirmed the allegations.  He was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 1 count of indecent behavior with a juvenile.

Judge Kent Savoie set his bond at $50,000.

CPSO & Cameron SO Arrest TX Man on Stealing Spree

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On June 12 at approximately 3:30 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a gas station on Gulf Highway in Lake Charles in reference to a burglary alarm that had been triggered.

When deputies arrived, they discovered the back door of the store was open and had been damaged. After deputies checked for possible subjects inside the store, the store manager arrived and was able to access video surveillance footage. The video captured a man, later identified as Kolby W. Quinn, 17, 110 Royal Street, Liberty, Texas, drive up to the store on a Harley Davidson motorcycle, later discovered stolen by Quinn from San Jacinto County, Texas. Quinn then entered through the back door of the store, stole several miscellaneous items and fled on the motorcycle.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On June 11 at approximately 7:00 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Dennis Pippin was patrolling the Fitzenreiter Road boat launch in Lake Charles and observed a man, later identified as Anthony J. Ross, 31, 1513 Sunset Drive, Lake Charles, attempting to push a truck into the water from the boat ramp.

After running the license plate number of the truck through NCIC, Cpl. Pippin discovered the truck had been reported stolen. When the Cpl. Pippin approached Ross, he jumped into the stolen truck and fled eastbound on Fitzenreiter Road.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On May 19, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a machine shop in Lake Charles regarding a theft.

When deputies arrived, they spoke with the business owner who advised when he arrived at work, several engine blocks and scrap iron were missing.

On May 29, detectives were contacted by a witness who reported seeing a man on the machine shop property several times in the past several weeks stealing engine blocks and other items.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA — On April 9, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives investigated a burglary at a home on Ravia Rd. in Sulphur. On May 17, they received information the stolen items may be at a home on Rose St. in Lake Charles. A search of the home revealed a flat screen television, two stolen laptop computers and a jewelry box containing miscellaneous jewelry – all items stolen from the home on Ravia Rd.

NC approves Amendment on Gay Marriage

North Carolina voters have approved a constitutional amendment defining marriage solely as a union between a man and a woman, making it the 30th state to adopt such a ban.

With 35 percent of precincts reporting Tuesday, unofficial returns showed the amendment passing with about 58 percent of the vote to 42 percent against.

CPSO Arrests Man for Copper Wire Theft

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA — On April 23, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched in reference to a burglary where over $8,000 worth of copper wire was stolen from a warehouse at the Conoco plant in Westlake.

After further investigation, detectives arrested John A. Domino, 32, 2404 Demarest Street, Lake Charles, in connection with the burglary and theft. During a search of Domino’s residence, detectives located and recovered the stolen copper in the backyard of Domino’s house. When questioned by detectives, he confirmed he stole the copper wiring from the warehouse at the Conoco plant.
