CPSO arrests 2nd person for Damage to Vehicles on I-10

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives have arrested a second person, Andrew C. Gobert, 19, 2705 Linkswiller Road, Lake Charles, for throwing large pieces of broken concrete and wood debris off of Fabacher Overpass on I-10 near Vinton. The debris hit vehicles traveling on I-10, resulting in several injuries and over $10,000 in damages to thirteen vehicles during the early morning hours between February 12-14.

CPSO detectives previously arrested Dalton J. Jaquillard on February 18, who was with Gobert, for the same offense. He was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 7 counts of aggravated assault and 8 counts of aggravated criminal damage to property. Judge Robert Wyatt set his bond at $60,000.

CAT Team Drug Bust on I-10

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On February 26, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Sgt. Jeff Cole conducted a stop on a car traveling eastbound on I-10 near the I-210 Lake Charles Loop for a traffic violation.

After the driver of the car, Joemarko D. James, 27, 1221 Tower Street, Leesville, began to act suspiciously during the traffic stop, Sgt. Cole allowed his trained and certified drug detection K9 “Basco” to conduct a free air sniff around the car. After Basco provided a positive response to the odor of a controlled substance, a subsequent search revealed a plastic canister containing over 540 grams of cocaine in the car’s trunk, with an estimated street value of $40,000.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office received numerous reports regarding a man, later identified as Dalton J. Jaquillard, 19, 225 Canal Street, Apt. B, Sulphur, throwing large pieces of broken concrete and wood debris off of Fabacher Overpass on I-10 near Vinton. The debris hit vehicles traveling on I-10, resulting in several injuries and over $10,000 in damages to thirteen vehicles in the early morning hours between February 12-15.

After further investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Jaquillard and on February 18 he was arrested by deputies without incident.

Chris Johnson conducted a stop on a car traveling eastbound on I-10 between Vinton and Sulphur for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, the driver of the car, Benjamin L. Mitchell, 47, 6603 Hirsch Road, Houston, Texas, began to act suspiciously.

C.A.T. Team makes Pot Bust on I-10

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On November 9 at approximately 10:00 a.m., Cpl. Chris Johnson and Cpl. Kevin Hoover with the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) observed an SUV and a car traveling together east on I-10 between Vinton and Sulphur.  After observing them commit traffic violations, Cpl. Hoover and Cpl. Johnson conducted traffic stops on both vehicles.

An investigation revealed the driver of the SUV, Robert L. Hayward, 34, Cairo, GA, and the driver and passengers of the car, Antonio D. Holt, 28, Pelham, GA, William Knight, 35, and Jacenta J. Copeland, 24, both of Cairo, GA, were traveling together from Houston to Cairo, Georgia, although both parties claimed to be traveling alone.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On October 30, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Sgt. Stuart Henderson conducted a stop on a car traveling eastbound between Vinton and Sulphur for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, the driver of the car, Bryant E. Comeaux, 40, Trinity, Texas, began to act suspiciously.

After receiving consent from Comeaux, Sgt. Henderson conducted a search of the car and recovered a trash bag inside a cardboard box containing three plastic wrapped bundles of marijuana, weighing over 30 pounds, and three plastic bags of suspected cocaine, with a combined street value of approximately $65,000, a digital scale, smoking device and rolling papers throughout the car.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On October 10, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Cpl. Christopher Johnson conducted a stop on a Jeep traveling eastbound near the Ruth Street exit in Sulphur for a traffic violation.

When the driver of the Jeep, Jordan R. Engleton, 27, 2416 Apple Street, Morgan City, and passengers Leroy D. Byers, 30, 212 Second Street, Morgan City, and Leroy Davis, III, 21, 173 S. Beadle Street, Lafayette, began to act suspiciously during the traffic stop, Cpl. Johnson asked Engleton for permission to search the Jeep and he refused.
