The Las Vegas Strip became a scene of deadly violence early Thursday when someone in a black Range Rover opened fire on a Maserati at a stoplight, sending it crashing into a taxi that burst into flames, leaving three people dead and at least six injured.

Police believe an altercation earlier at a hotel prompted the car-to-car attack in the heart of the Strip at Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road, the site of several major hotel-casinos, including Bellagio, Caesars Palace and Bally’s.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office said Sunday afternoon that an autopsy on pop icon Whitney Houston’s body has been completed, but official results have been placed on hold, pending toxicology tests.

Los Angeles Deputy Coroner Ed Winter said at a press conference that the tests could take six to eight weeks to process.

Bottles of prescription drugs were found in the Beverly Hills Hilton hotel room where Whitney Houston’s lifeless body was discovered Saturday afternoon just hours before a huge Grammy party she was to attend, a report says. View full article »

CPSO ARREST SULPHUR MAN FOR B&T AT LOCAL CASINO HOTEL

On July 29, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a local casino hotel after a guest reported a laptop computer and other items had been stolen from their hotel room.

When deputies arrived, they reviewed video surveillance which captured a man, later identified as Joshua P. Lewis, 24, 18 Fowler Road, Lot # 112, Sulphur, entering the hotel room and stealing the items. Lewis was a former employee of the casino hotel and was terminated on July 28. View full article »

We need to protect our downtown area! So many people want to tear everything down, then we WON’T have a downtown! A lot of times if the buildings don’t get torn down, they are renovated in such a way that they might as well torn it down! Around Lake Charles, they don’t understand the difference between “restore” and “remodel.” When restoring, you preserve and fix it up like it used to be, just in a better situation. Remodeling is what Lake Charles is stuck on, which is completely gutting out and rebuild from inside to outside, pretty much tearing down the structure without tearing it down.
