Newt Gingrich denied claims by his second ex-wife Thursday that he once asked her to agree to an “open marriage,” kicking off a presidential debate in South Carolina with a fiery defense of his personal life.
“The story is false,” Gingrich said.

A prominent former advertising executive declared that he has hired an “assassin” to kill his ex-wife just before being sentenced Wednesday to 70 years in prison for holding her hostage for more than 13 hours and burning down the Connecticut home they once shared.
Richard Shenkman, 62, was sentenced in Hartford Superior Court, where a jury convicted him in October of 10 charges including kidnapping, arson, assault and threatening. He faced a potential of nearly 80 years in prison. View full article »
