ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On March 9, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Cpl. Kevin Hoover conducted a stop on an SUV traveling eastbound on I-10 near the Enterprise Blvd. exit in Lake Charles for a traffic violation.

After the driver of the SUV, James A. Sims, 35, 4067 Marriana Road, Holly Springs, MS, began to act suspiciously during the traffic stop, Cpl. Hoover allowed his trained and certified drug detection K9 “Mako” to conduct a free air sniff around the SUV. After Mako provided a positive response to the odor of a controlled substance, Sims advised he and two other passengers had smoked marijuana in the SUV approximately 2 hours prior.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On September 29, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office received a complaint regarding Philo G. Morvant, 35, 620 Neil Road, Westlake, having inappropriate sexual contact with a 5 year old juvenile.  Morvant was an acquaintance of the victim’s family.

When questioned by detectives, Morvant confirmed the allegations.  He was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 1 count of indecent behavior with a juvenile.

Judge Kent Savoie set his bond at $50,000.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA — On April 26 at approximately 8:00 p.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Sgt. Jeff Cole conducted a stop on a car for a traffic violation near mile marker 31 eastbound on I-10.

When Sgt. Cole spoke with the driver of the car, Torie T. Harris, 35, 2346 Charbonnet Street, New Orleans, he began to act suspiciously. After receiving consent from Harris, Sgt. Cole conducted a search of the car and recovered five pounds of marijuana, with an estimated street value of $10,000, hidden behind the carpet lining in the trunk of the car.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA — On April 24, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to parking lot on Mount Talbot Street in Lake Charles regarding a report of a suspicious vehicle.

When deputies arrived, they discovered a pick-up truck sitting in the parking lot that appeared to be abandoned. Upon further investigation, the deputies observed the locking mechanism on the driver’s side door of the truck had been punched out and the steering column had been damaged, exposing the wires.

Crumpler, 35, 3766 FM 408, Orange, Texas, and charged him with an additional 13 counts of sexual battery; 13 counts of aggravated rape; and 2 counts of molestation of a juvenile. View full article »

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA — On February 16, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Vice detectives arrested Kelli J. English, 35, Lake Charles, who was employed at a local dentist office, for obtaining CDS by fraud since June 2011.

The investigation revealed over the past 8 months, English called out numerous prescriptions for controlled medication to pharmacies under a family member’s name without the dentist’s authorization. View full article »

Haig, 35, Livingston Street, Lake Charles, and charged him with failure to register as a sex offender, after receiving information from Arkansas State Police that he may be residing in Calcasieu Parish.
