ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On March 9, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Cpl. Kevin Hoover conducted a stop on an SUV traveling eastbound on I-10 near the Enterprise Blvd. exit in Lake Charles for a traffic violation.
After the driver of the SUV, James A. Sims, 35, 4067 Marriana Road, Holly Springs, MS, began to act suspiciously during the traffic stop, Cpl. Hoover allowed his trained and certified drug detection K9 “Mako” to conduct a free air sniff around the SUV. After Mako provided a positive response to the odor of a controlled substance, Sims advised he and two other passengers had smoked marijuana in the SUV approximately 2 hours prior.
