Three college friends of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were arrested and accused Wednesday of removing a backpack containing hollowed-out fireworks from Tsarnaev’s dorm room three days after the attack to keep him from getting into trouble.

In court papers, the FBI said one of them threw the backpack in the garbage – it was later found in a landfill by law enforcement officers – after the young men concluded from news reports that Tsarnaev was one of the bombers.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On April 17, detectives with the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) were contacted in reference to a package being delivered to a business on Moeling Street in Lake Charles. The package, which was intercepted through the mail by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, was found to contain approximately 505 grams of MDMA (ecstasy) powder.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On March 14, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a home in Sulphur in reference to a burglary.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the victim who advised when he returned home, he observed 3 juveniles, later identified as two 16 year old boys and a 15 year old boy, running behind his home. During further investigation, the victim discovered a safe located in his bedroom had been opened and a prescription bottle of hydrocodine pills were stolen along with two packs of cigarettes.

U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice told lawmakers Tuesday that her initial explanation of the deadly Sept. 11 raid in Libya was wrong, but her concession failed to mollify three Republican senators who signaled they would oppose her possible nomination to be secretary of state.

In a closed-door meeting that Rice requested, the ambassador answered questions from Sens. John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Kelly Ayotte about her much-maligned explanations about the cause of the attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans. She was joined by acting CIA Director Michael Morell.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. –Detectives with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Vehicle Crimes Unit recently launched a lengthy, multi-jurisdictional investigation with the Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office, Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office

Through the course of the investigation, detectives determined Jeremy J. Landreneau, 21, 136 Meadow Drive, Ragley, and Eric P. Guidry, 24, 2276 Riverside Drive, Jennings, were involved in numerous thefts in all of the above parishes.

When questioned by detectives in reference to recent burglaries in the Calcasieu Parish area, Landreneau confirmed he purchased numerous tools, heavy equipment, and other miscellaneous items, he knew had been reported stolen. After being placed under arrest, detectives located a small clear bag containing suspected marijuana in Landreneau’s front pocket. During of search of Landreneau’s home, detectives also recovered a white powdery substance believed to be methamphetamines, along with several glass devices used to smoke methamphetamines, in his bedroom.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On July 30, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a Westlake bar in reference to a burglary.

The investigation revealed during the late night hours, three men, later identified as Sedric L. Green, 20, 229 Prater Road, David D. Johnson, Jr., 21, 521 Prater Road, both of Sulphur, and Travis T. Lafleur, 23, 4314 Dutchess Street, Westlake, pried open the front door of the bar to gain entry and once inside broke open the ATM machine, stealing over $2,000 cash.

A Texas law enforcement officer attacked as he brought an eviction notice to a house was among three people, including a shooter inside the home, killed Monday near the Texas A&M University campus.

A 65-year-old man was the third person killed in the shootings at an off-campus home not far from the university’s football stadium, College Station Assistant Police Chief Scott McCollum said. Three other law enforcement officers and a 55-year-old woman were wounded, he said.
