President Barack Obama tried to swat down a pair of brewing controversies Monday, denouncing as “outrageous” the targeting of conservative political groups by the federal IRS but angrily denying any administration cover-up after last year’s deadly attacks in Benghazi, Libya.

Simultaneous investigations – and demands by Republicans for more – have put the White House on the defensive, emboldened GOP lawmakers and threatened to overtake a second-term Obama agenda already off to a rocky start.

The longtime feud between late-night hosts Jay Leno and David Letterman is the stuff of legend and, apparently, so yesterday.

The two Jimmys: Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon, agree there’s no rivalry between them.

Both were among the honorees in New York Tuesday at a gala recognizing Time magazine’s annual list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World.

“I feel good about it. We’re very friendly. I know people expect us to dislike each other and say bad things about each other but that will never happen,” said 45-year-old Kimmel.

He agreed that making nice is a good thing.

Two bombs exploded in the packed streets near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday, killing three people and injuring more than 130 in a bloody scene of shattered glass and severed limbs that raised alarms that terrorists might have struck again in the U.S.

A White House official speaking on condition of anonymity because the investigation was still unfolding said the attack was being treated as an act of terrorism.

Shain Gandee lived for the outdoors, often going on muddy, off-road thrill rides in the hills near his West Virginia home. A recent late-night escapade ended in tragedy for the MTV reality show cast member and two others.

The popular “BUCKWILD” cast member was found dead Monday inside a sport utility vehicle belonging to his family that was found partially submerged in a deep mud pit about a mile from his home near Sissonville, authorities said. Also inside were the bodies of his uncle and another man.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On January 15, at approximately 1:35 p.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to LaGrange High School regarding a robbery.

Upon arrival, deputies were advised while school staff members were selling plate lunches at the concession area to raise funds for the baseball team, a student ran up and grabbed the cash box, containing an undisclosed amount of cash, and fled on foot.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — Today the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office upgraded the charges against Brian D. Diamond, 41, 904 S. Perkins Ferry Road, Moss Bluff, from 2nd degree battery to manslaughter since the death of Matthew V. Crochet. Diamond’s bond has been increased from $350,000 to $950,000. These charges stem from an early morning fight on January 1 at a New Year’s Eve party on S. Perkins Ferry Road in Moss Bluff. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a man, later identified as Matthew V. Crochet, 36, Moss Bluff, lying on the ground unresponsive. The investigation revealed a physical altercation between Crochet and Diamond occurred at the party where alcohol was served. Medical emergency personnel were called and transported Crochet to a Lafayette hospital for treatment for severe head trauma where he died on January 2 as a result of his injuries.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On January 1, at approximately 12:05 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched in reference to an armed robbery of a man walking in the area of N. Highway 171 and Graham Street.

When deputies arrived, they spoke with the victim who advised two boys, later identified as a 13 and 15 year old juvenile, one of which was brandishing a handgun, approached him and demanded money. After stealing an undisclosed amount of money, the juveniles fled on foot.
