ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On March 21, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a local hotel regarding a theft.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the victim who advised a diaper bag containing over $100,000 worth of jewelry, several electronic items, and $14,000 cash had been stolen from the pool area of the hotel. He and his wife, with their children, were spending the weekend at the hotel and didn’t realize the diaper bag was missing until they got to their home in Texas.

After further investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Christopher P. Duplechin, 17, 3462 Duke Road, Lake Charles, and on April 26, he was arrested in connection with the theft without incident at his home. When questioned by detectives, Duplechin confirmed he stole the items.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On April 26, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a local elementary school after receiving a complaint from school officials regarding Syreeta B. Joubert, 31, 2115 2nd Avenue, Lake Charles, physical abusing a 10 year old family member who is a student at the school.

Deputies learned Joubert struck the victim several times with a studded belt, causing numerous lacerations on the victim’s buttocks.

When questioned by detectives, Joubert confirmed the allegations. She was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 1 count of cruelty to a juvenile and released on a $1,500 bond set by Judge Robert Wyatt.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On April 24, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a local elementary school after receiving a complaint from school officials regarding Nicole M. Henning, 29, 2409 Elm Street, Lake Charles, physical abusing a 7 year old family member who is a student at the school.

Deputies learned Henning struck the victim with her hand, causing large bruises and red marks to the right side of his face. Deputies also observed multiple bruises on the left side of the victim’s face, head, arm, neck and ear.

When questioned by detectives, Henning confirmed she struck the victim on the right side of the face. She was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 1 count of cruelty to a juvenile.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On April 22, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Sgt. Jeff Cole conducted a stop on a car traveling eastbound on I-10 between Vinton and Sulphur for a traffic violation.

When Sgt. Cole spoke with the driver, Emily T. Wallace, 31, 1022 Huge Wallace Road, Lafayette, he detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the car.

During a subsequent search of the car, Sgt. Cole recovered a can with a screw type false bottom, containing approximately 2 ounces of methamphetamine. He also recovered a small bag on her person containing approximately 2 ounces of methamphetamine, and 2 partially burnt marijuana cigarettes, along with a spoon, and a syringe from inside the car.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs by hosting National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The public can bring their medications for disposal to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office at 5400 E. Broad Street in Lake Charles on Saturday, April 27th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On April 17, detectives with the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) were contacted in reference to a package being delivered to a business on Moeling Street in Lake Charles. The package, which was intercepted through the mail by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, was found to contain approximately 505 grams of MDMA (ecstasy) powder.

ERIC SCOTT RADIO | LAKE CHARLES, LA. — On Saturday, April 20, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted a seatbelt checkpoint at the 600 block of North Perkins Ferry Road in Moss Bluff. As a result of the checkpoint, deputies checked 1,328 vehicles and issued 36 citations.
