Yahoo is buying online blogging forum Tumblr for $1.1 billion as CEO Marissa Mayer tries to rejuvenate an Internet pioneer that had fallen behind the times.

The deal announced Monday is Mayer’s boldest move since she left Google 10 months ago to lead Yahoo’s latest comeback attempt. It marks Yahoo’s most expensive acquisition since the Sunnyvale, Calif., company bought online search engine Overture a decade ago for $1.3 billion in cash and stock.

Chris Smith remembered his Kris Kross hip-hop partner Chris Kelly Thursday as a true friend who he’s sure is in heaven now.

Smith struggled to blurt out words at the pulpit of Jackson Baptist Memorial Church at Kelly’s funeral attended by some 300 friends, family and fellow entertainers

The 34-year-old Kelly, who had the 1992 hit “Jump” with Smith, was found dead May 1 of a suspected drug overdose. His mother and uncle told authorities Kelly had a history of drug abuse and experienced similar episodes in the past, according to a police report.

Reese Witherspoon pleaded no contest and paid a $100 fine after berating a state trooper in Atlanta while her husband was given a sobriety test, an embarrassing exchange caught on a dashboard camera after the usually squeaky-clean Hollywood star had what she called “one too many” glasses of wine.

The video, which was first obtained by TMZ and publicly released by authorities Friday, shows Witherspoon asking the trooper, “Do you know my name?” and then adding, “You’re about to find out who I am.”

The longtime feud between late-night hosts Jay Leno and David Letterman is the stuff of legend and, apparently, so yesterday.

The two Jimmys: Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon, agree there’s no rivalry between them.

Both were among the honorees in New York Tuesday at a gala recognizing Time magazine’s annual list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World.

“I feel good about it. We’re very friendly. I know people expect us to dislike each other and say bad things about each other but that will never happen,” said 45-year-old Kimmel.

He agreed that making nice is a good thing.

NBC on Wednesday announced its long-rumored switch in late night, replacing incumbent Jay Leno at “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon and moving the iconic franchise back to New York.

“Saturday Night Live” producer Lorne Michaels will take over as producer of the new “Tonight Show.” Fallon’s replacement at 12:35 a.m. was not named, although Seth Meyers of “SNL” is considered a strong candidate.

In one of the day’s dumbest April Fool’s Day pranks, a Waffle House worker allegedly called 911 to falsely report that the eatery had just been robbed.

According to police, Susan Alexandria Tinker, 20, called around 6 AM to claim that the Hampton, Virginia eatery had been robbed. However, after officers arrived at the purported crime scene, they came to a different conclusion.
